HARD FABRIC PROPERTIES
What exactly is hard fabric? What is it used for, and what makes hard fabric so unique? With these questions in mind, we would like to give you an insight into the wonderful world of this incredibly strong material.
What is Hard Fabric?
Hard fabric is a thermosetting material consisting of layers of paper and layers of linen fabric. These different layers are impregnated with phenolic resin. Due to this combination, hard fabric has several good properties that might be applicable for your company.
The unique combination of layers of paper, linen fabric, and phenolic resin gives hard fabric a number of special properties. For example, the surface is incredibly hard, and hard fabric is highly wear-resistant. Other properties include good mechanical and dielectric characteristics.
In various sectors, we encounter materials made of hard fabric. Hard fabric is used as gears, wear strips, or as bearing material. Common sectors are machine construction and the electrical engineering industry. Here, hard fabric is widely used due to its electrical resistance combined with its low cost.
